Brain-Based Understanding of Trauma

& Trauma-Informed Approach

This 4-hour CEU for SUDPT, SUDP, and MHC training opportunity will allow participants to learn about the development of the brain when faced with different types of traumatic experiences. Participants will increase knowledge and understanding of Trauma-Informed Approach with both didactic and experiential exercises.

PRESENTERS:

Danielle Cannon, LICSW, CMHS, RYT began working in the behavioral health field in 1998.  She has vast experience in working with youth in the behavioral health, juvenile justice, and child welfare systems as a therapist, mentor, trainer, and administrator.   She has her Masters in Social Work from Eastern Washington University and is licensed in both Washington and Idaho.  She is a champion for behavioral health reform, having sat on many local and state committees for the advancement of services for youth and adults.

 

Amber Ard, LMHC, SUDP, CMHS moved to Spokane to complete her education in psychology, addiction studies, and social work. She has worked in a variety of clinical positions since 2010, including outpatient and residential treatment programs with an emphasis on working with children, adolescents, and co-occurring disorders as a dually licensed therapist. She currently is a state-wide consultant for Harborview Trauma Center and the University of Washington to support the implementation of CBT+ implementation in Washington. Additionally, she was the DSHS award-winning recipient for Outstanding Individual Counselor in 2016.

Via a person-centered treatment approach, she attempts to offer individuals served in the community to have access to both mental health and substance use disorder services as needed. Her progressive views on concepts of recovery allow her to meet individuals where they are at. Aside from clinical practice, her passions include community training, working in academics, and supporting accessible and informed knowledge for continuing professional development.
